Sarah started working for me from 2000 - 2004 as my kennel manager and off and on ever since we moved from Northern CA.
Sarah was a dog and animal lover when we first met, but needed more training and experience. I imparted to her my knowledge in; grooming, feeding, basic puppy training and proper kennel care, management and cleanliness. During her time with Grand Prix Sarah has helped me to groom the dogs weekly, train puppies, whelp puppies and care for female dogs in heat and whelp. She is very bright and was easy to teach. She soaked up information like a sponge, and puts her knowledge into practice as an animal care specialist. She is very dependable, trustworthy and capable.

Sarah took care of my eight-year-old whippet son, "Simon,” for ten days in April 2013 while I was vacationing in Peru. I hadn’t taken such an extended vacation in years because I’m very particular about all circumstances related to the care and boarding of my dog. As whippet owners know, whippets are a relatively uncommon breed and have their special habits and preferences. So I was delighted to find in Sarah someone who has all the essential qualifications I was looking for: a genuine love of the breed, years of knowledge and experience with whippets, and two lovely whippets of her own, Hailey and Skyy, with whom my Simon formed an instant connection. Equally important for me is that Sarah is utterly reliable, trustworthy, and well-organized. All aspects of communication, planning, and logistics went off without a hitch. And when I was in Peru, missing Simon and wondering (worrying!) how he was, it was great to get Sarah’s photos (and even some videos!) of him exercising, playing, and lounging about, together with her prompt replies to my occasional email inquiries. In short, I couldn’t be happier with the terrific care Sarah provided. I recommend her without reservation.

Sarah Herrick has been House/Dog sitting for us since August, 2012. She is a very competent person and handles our dogs very well. We have three dogs; a 12 year old Miniature Schnauser, a 6 year old Yorkie and a 15 month old Austrailian Shepherd.
She has stayed 4 or 5 times with them from 3 to 10 days. Once when it was raining buckets for days and days, I was very impressed when she took the two little dogs who don't like to go out in the rain, down to the barn and had them do their business in the shavings in the stall.
Our property is not fenced and Sarah has dealt with keeping the dogs safely on our property.
She even takes the Aussie for hikes in a local park with a friend and other dogs. She feeds the dogs properly and will administer medication, she has brushed them when I have asked her to. She cleans up the dog waste from the lawn. She has watered my house plants and patio plants and has even wheeled out the garbage cans for us and brought them back in on garbage days.
Sarah is neat and tidy around the house and when we arrive home the house is as neat and tidy. You would never know she has been here.
Our dogs love her and we appreciate her efforts.

I was going away to Europe for three plus weeks and have six whippets. One is a puppy, one had just had knee surgery three weeks before I left, and three are seniors, so as you can see, this is not a simple crew to care for. I am extremely happy with the care Sarah gave to my dogs and house.
Sarah and I checked in with each other a few times while I was gone, which gave me great piece of mind. My dogs were walked everyday, many days more than I walk them. They were fed according to my instructions. Jack, the dog with the bad knee, was taken to his doctors appointments, was exercised per the orthopedic surgeon's instructions and made excellent progress in his rehab while I was gone. Sage, my puppy, was happy to see me upon my return, which is a nice feeling, but she did very well while I was away and got lots of long walks, which made her very happy. I highly recommend Sarah and will use her again, when I go away.

My puppy Carmen loves Sarah. Carmen is often quite naughty, as puppies will be, but Sarah has great advice on teaching her manners with simple, effective ways to train her. Sarah is very patient, both with the puppy and with my husband, who has very little pet experience and can be quite stubborn. I have greatly appreciated the help from Sarah over this past year as our puppy has grown up. She even brought her dogs over to help Carmen get used to obeying around other dogs. Sarah's two dogs are the best behaved dogs I have ever met. It is a great goal for my own. I get compliments all the time on how well trained Carmen is for her age and breed. Sarah is very knowledgeable about everything canine. She is skilled at training puppies through adult dogs and can help dogs with behavior issues as well. My husband and I were fostering a dog with behavior issues and Sarah worked with the dog so successfully that the dog is now a member of a family who adore her.
